Head of Human Resources (Hong Kong & China)

About the role

We are seeking a strategic Head of Human Resources to lead HR activities for a medium‑sized international bank across its Hong Kong and China offices (approximately 100 employees). The role sits on the senior leadership team and partners closely with the Group Chief Human Resources Officer to drive HR transformation and support business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all HR functions including organisational development, talent acquisition, talent management, learning & development, performance management, total rewards, employee engagement and HR operations.
• Implement Group‑approved HR initiatives and drive continuous improvement and change management, especially around HRIS and digital transformation.
• Ensure compliance with local HR statutory, labour, tax and regulatory requirements and provide accurate reporting to leadership and regulators.
• Oversee salary structures, pay policies and variable compensation systems.
• Develop succession plans for critical roles and talent development programmes for high‑performing staff.
• Promote employer branding, DEI and ESG goals related to people practices.

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive HR experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Fluency in spoken English and Cantonese; Mandarin is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong and China HR statutory, labour and tax laws.
• Proven ability to lead organisational change and balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business or a related field; professional HR membership or HKIB ECF certification is highly regarded.
