Independent US IPOs Analyst

About the role

Smartkarma connects independent investment research analysts to institutional asset managers such as sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, pension funds, boutiques and family offices. It is seeking a senior analyst or analyst team to build ongoing research coverage of all US IPOs and direct listings with an expected deal size of USD 100 million or higher, excluding closed-end funds and SPACs.

Key responsibilities

• Produce data-driven methodology to score and rank deals
• Write pre-IPO company tear sheets and fundamental research
• Provide pre-IPO valuation and pricing insights
• Deliver post-IPO trading summaries and lock-up expiry previews
• Within six months, offer a high-touch service to select institutional clients: pre-positioning, market intelligence, positioning and book colour, management meeting questions, Excel models, bespoke NDA-driven notes, lock-up expiry trades and desk access via email, messaging and direct calls

Required profile

• Extensive research and/or investment experience for institutional clients (5 years or more)
• Demonstrated experience and network within US equity capital markets
• Demonstrated ability to write research
