Junior Trading Analyst - Volatility Trading

About the role

Eclipse Trading is a proprietary trading firm founded in 2007, with over 120 employees across Hong Kong (HQ), Sydney, Shanghai and Chicago, trading equity derivatives, delta one, ETFs, commodity derivatives and cryptocurrency. It is looking for a sharp, data-driven person to join its global Quant and Integration team in Hong Kong, reporting to the Senior Trading Analyst. The role is on-site and involves working side-by-side with traders to turn their market intuition into algorithms.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quantitative analysis on the market to improve existing strategies and develop new ones
• Work with traders and quants to identify technical trading problems, research them and deliver mathematical solutions
• Derive fair value and price sensitivity of financial instruments using mathematical theory and statistical models
• Design and deploy automation tools to improve trading

Required profile

• 1-3 years of hands-on experience on or with a high-to-mid frequency trading desk specializing in volatility trading
• Strong academic background in a quantitative or engineering discipline
• Good command of spoken and written English
• A self-starter who can turn an ambiguous trading problem into an empirical experiment and deliver production-ready solutions independently

Required skills

• Parametric volatility models, smile decomposition, spot-volatility correlation modelling and fitting bias- and arbitrage-free shapes
• Options portfolio optimization and backtesting, long/short relative volatility, dispersion and partial dispersion
• Vol beta and correlation modelling, realized volatility and skewness forecasting, event volatility pricing, term structure modelling
• Exceptional proficiency in Python and data analysis libraries
