L3 Linux System Administrator (Unix Operations)

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services (APAC) is seeking an experienced L3 Linux System Administrator to join its global Unix Operations team. You will be responsible for maintaining high‑availability infrastructure across multiple regions, supporting both Solaris and Linux environments while driving sustainable, carbon‑neutral practices.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a global plant running on Solaris and Unix platforms.
• Administer core infrastructure services such as DHCP, DNS, NTP and a self‑maintained global software distribution system.
• Maintain file‑system back‑ends and ensure reliable software delivery worldwide.
• Support, troubleshoot and debug large‑scale production environments.
• Implement and oversee change and problem management processes.

Required profile

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a global, high‑pressure team environment.
• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple outage‑handling tasks.

Required skills

• Linux system administration (preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Experience with Solaris/Unix operating systems.
• Knowledge of virtualization, micro‑services and physical infrastructure.
• Proficiency in shell scripting, Perl and/or Python.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, host‑level networking and security concepts.
• Experience with clustering technologies such as Veritas Cluster Server or similar high‑availability solutions.
• Familiarity with DHCP, DNS, NTP and global software distribution mechanisms.
• Exposure to SAN/NAS storage, VMWare and Veritas Volume Manager is a plus.
