Learning Support Teaching Assistant – High School

About the role

Stamford American School Hong Kong is seeking a Learning Support Teaching Assistant for its high‑school programme (Grades 9‑12). The role supports students with identified or emerging learning, developmental, behavioural or access needs, promoting independence, progress and self‑advocacy within an inclusive classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Create a welcoming classroom atmosphere that encourages participation from all learners.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group instruction using evidence‑based strategies and flexible interventions.
• Assist with behaviour‑management techniques to foster positive social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Support the implementation of accommodations, differentiated instruction and intervention plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists and families to monitor student progress and adjust support as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Relevant teaching qualifications or certifications.
• Understanding of inclusive practice, learner variability and neurodiversity.
• Ability to contribute to a positive, respectful and inclusive school environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of inclusive educational practices and student support strategies.
• Familiarity with behaviour‑management and conflict‑resolution techniques.
• Strong communication and collaborative planning abilities.
