Legal Counsel – International Products & Data Compliance

About the role

Meitu, an AI‑powered imaging software company, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its International Legal Team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will act as a legal business partner for product and business teams across mobile apps and websites, focusing on privacy, data protection, and intellectual property.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal contact for international business and product teams on compliance matters for mobile apps and websites, drafting and reviewing privacy policies, terms of service, cookie notices, and related documents.
• Monitor global developments in data protection and ePrivacy laws and translate regulatory changes into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in designing and maintaining internal policies and procedures for data‑breach detection and response, cross‑border data transfers, and copyright infringement compliance.
• Advise on privacy and compliance requirements to support product launches and ongoing operations in multiple jurisdictions.
• Provide general legal support and contribute to ad‑hoc projects as assigned by the General Counsel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in law from a Common Law jurisdiction.
• Qualified solicitor admitted in a Common Law jurisdiction with 3–8 years post‑qualification experience, focusing on data protection, ePrivacy, and intellectual property.
• In‑house legal and compliance experience related to mobile apps and websites at a sizeable technology company.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Practical, risk‑balanced approach to compliance, able to propose flexible and creative solutions.
• Experience coordinating internal counterparts and external counsel or regulators, managing matters independently with clear accountability.
