Linux Engineer – Market Infrastructure (Hong Kong)

About the role

BNP Paribas CIB is seeking motivated Linux Systems Engineers to join its APAC Market‑Infrastructure team in Hong Kong. You will operate and enhance a mission‑critical Red Hat/Debian trading platform that supports global electronic‑trading activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Linux‑based trading platform across the region, including monitoring during trading hours and occasional out‑of‑hours work.
• Respond to incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
• Plan, apply, and document platform changes, performance improvements, and capacity upgrades.
• Design and deliver technical solutions, automate provisioning and patching, and implement hardening guidelines.
• Participate in a rotating morning‑shift on‑call roster, including holidays and weekends.

Required profile

• Self‑driven and collaborative, able to manage stakeholder expectations in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong time‑management, sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
• Experience working with regional and global infrastructure, application support, and development teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Linux command line and shell scripting.
• Python development for automation, testing and debugging.
• Advanced system and network troubleshooting.
• Linux performance optimisation for low‑latency, high‑throughput workloads.
• Monitoring stacks and Linux/network telemetry.
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP/Multicast, routing, DNS).
• Bare‑metal provisioning and configuration‑management at scale (Foreman, Puppet, Ansible).
• Familiarity with server hardware components.
• CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, Bitbucket).
