Linux System Engineer

About the role

Design, build and operate mission‑critical systems across virtualised Linux and cloud environments for a leading air cargo terminal. The role covers system implementation, production support and contributes to infrastructure architecture through feasibility studies and proofs of concept.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, install and implement systems on virtualised Linux and major cloud platforms.
• Administer Linux environments, including setup, patching, backups, software installation, monitoring and health checks.
• Manage enterprise storage (SAN/NAS), provisioning, capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Lead feasibility assessments, proofs of concept and implementation of new IT infrastructure solutions.
• Advise project teams on system architecture, contribute to solution design reviews and maintain technical documentation.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call production support for mission‑critical systems and mentor junior administrators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant IT infrastructure experience, with at least 3 years of solid Linux system administration.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure.
• Experience with IT procurement, vendor negotiation and budgeting is a strong advantage.
