Manager, Life Underwriting

About the role

Prudential is looking for a Manager, Life Underwriting to underwrite and review proposals so that service pledges are met, and to handle complicated cases with follow-up through the sales channels. The manager leads an underwriting team to deliver and meet company targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an underwriting team in assessing underwriting cases and providing excellent service to sales channels.
• Monitor team performance to ensure service level agreements are met in good quality.
• Perform risk assessments on underwriting cases within your own underwriting authority.
• Review suggested cases from junior underwriters and coach them for staff development.
• Take part in relevant projects and implement underwriting initiatives or campaigns.
• Analyse data and prepare reports for performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Solid track record in underwriting, with over 8 years of relevant experience in life insurance underwriting, including 4 years in a supervisory role.
• Professional qualification in Life Insurance, including FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute).
• University degree in any discipline.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Good command of English and Cantonese; fluent Putonghua is an advantage.

• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency in Chinese word processing software.
