Operations Manager – Data Center & Server Room

About the role

The Operations Manager will lead Hong Kong's data‑center and server‑room team, ensuring high‑quality, compliant, and efficient delivery of services that meet client SLAs and business objectives. This position is the primary point of accountability for operational performance, vendor coordination, and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day server‑room operations, including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting and incident resolution for servers, network equipment, power and cooling systems.
• Oversee capacity planning – forecast power, cooling, rack space, loading and network port utilization.
• Review, validate and approve all change requests, permits and documentation for IT hardware work.
• Manage vendor relationships, approve work schedules and supervise on‑site activities to meet contractual obligations.
• Maintain strict compliance with physical security, environmental controls and industry standards (ISO, TIA‑942).
• Keep accurate inventory of hardware, software and network components using tools such as Patch Manager.
• Develop, review and continuously improve SOPs for all server‑room activities.
• Lead disaster‑recovery planning, testing and execution to ensure business continuity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data‑center or server‑room operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Proven expertise in data‑center infrastructure, power, cooling, cabling standards and hardware lifecycle management.

Required skills

• Power and cooling management for data‑center environments.
• Cabling standards and cable‑management best practices.
• Use of cable testers such as Fluke Networks or VIAVI for copper and fiber certification.
• Inventory management tools (e.g., Patch Manager).
• Knowledge of ISO and TIA‑942 compliance requirements.
• Disaster‑recovery planning and execution.
