Senior Data Scientist - Health AI

About the role

Manulife is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to build and lead Health AI solutions across Asia markets, covering the health value chain from prevention and engagement to claims, provider insights and customer experience. The role works closely with regional and local teams, sets modelling standards and reports on AI project benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Build machine learning and GenAI solutions across the health value chain and deliver them across Asia markets
• Design, develop, deploy and continuously improve Health AI solutions, and track, evaluate and report their benefits, model performance, adoption and impact
• Support the health data strategy by improving data quality, optimising internal data assets and strengthening data governance
• Develop predictive, prescriptive and GenAI-enabled solutions for risk management, personalised engagement, claims efficiency and customer outcomes
• Collaborate with global, regional and in-market teams to set modelling standards, reusable patterns, governance frameworks and responsible AI practices
• Maintain a regional model and AI solution repository and guide in-country analytics and AI teams
• Apply analytics and AI to bancassurance, digital, agency and direct channels to improve targeting, personalisation and sales efficiency
• Build regional and BU-level result tracking and reporting, and escalate risks such as model risk and data limitations

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in data science and machine learning, preferably in retail financial services; health/insurance/reinsurance experience is a huge plus
• Hands-on experience with multivariate analysis, modelling, segmentation and health/claims analytics
• Strong experience deploying analytics solutions, including targeting, test and control development and response tracking
• Able to lead initiatives from scratch, manage stakeholders with conflicting objectives and work independently and in teams

Required skills

• Building AI/ML models and using data mining tools such as Python, SAS, R and SQL
• Big data and cloud platforms such as Azure, Hadoop, Hive and Spark (a plus)
• Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
