Senior Java Developer – Equity Derivatives Technology

About the role

Our client, a global investment bank in Hong Kong, is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join the Equity Derivatives Technology desk. The role involves designing, developing and enhancing backend services that support front‑office equity derivatives trading and risk workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java‑based backend components that enable equity derivatives lifecycle processing.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, business analysts and trading/risk stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, testable code and create/maintain unit and integration tests, automating where appropriate.
• Participate in design reviews, provide technical guidance to peers and contribute to platform engineering standards.
• Support production change delivery, including UAT, release readiness and incident investigations.
• Improve system performance, scalability and resilience through caching, asynchronous processing, retry mechanisms and graceful degradation.
• Ensure compliance with security, auditability and operational controls such as logging, monitoring and traceability.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in Java (core Java and modern frameworks) and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience with financial services or derivatives technology is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with equity derivatives products such as listed/unlisted options, variance swaps and equity futures options.
