Software Engineer, Framework Engineering

About the role

As a Software Engineer in the Framework Engineering track at Nex, you will help build the core cross‑platform framework that powers detection, sensing, haptics and machine‑learning inference for the Nex Playground system. You will work on real‑time runtime execution, hardware abstraction layers and developer APIs that enable multimodal interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a high‑performance, cross‑platform framework for sensing, detection, haptics and ML inference.
• Develop efficient runtime execution engines and hardware abstraction layers.
• Create developer APIs that expose complex sensing and inference capabilities.
• Optimize the system for real‑time performance and low latency.
• Collaborate with a small, highly technical team to ensure reliability, scalability and maintainability of core technology.

Required profile

• Strong interest in solving complex technical challenges at the intersection of research and production engineering.
• Passion for building reliable, performant and maintainable systems.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Experience with real‑time software systems.
• Familiarity with hardware abstraction layers.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning inference pipelines.
