Specialist, Frontend Development

About the role

HK Express is seeking a Specialist in Frontend Development to design, build, and optimise complex web features for its customer‑facing platforms. You will work closely with design, analytics and backend teams to deliver high‑performance, secure, and data‑driven experiences for millions of travellers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy complex frontend features from technical design through production.
• Implement A/B and multivariate tests with proper tagging, tracking and experiment guardrails.
• Manage third‑party scripts and tags while ensuring performance, security and privacy compliance.
• Optimise JavaScript, images, CSS and other assets to meet performance budgets.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve production issues using structured root‑cause analysis.
• Define and maintain frontend architecture standards, reusable components and coding best practices.
• Collaborate with Analytics teams to implement event tracking in Adobe Analytics.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews and coaching.
• Support headless‑CMS development (e.g., Sitecore XM Cloud) with component creation and troubleshooting.
• Ensure secure development practices, including dependency management and internal compliance.
• Perform additional frontend enhancements as assigned by the manager.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3‑4 years of professional frontend development experience on production web applications.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 and modern layout techniques (Flexbox/Grid).
• Proficiency with React, including state management and testing frameworks.
• Solid understanding of web performance optimisation techniques and tools.
• Experience with Git and collaborative code‑review processes.
• Good grasp of UI/UX principles and ability to work closely with designers.
• Hands‑on experience with Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics event instrumentation.
• Experience with headless‑CMS development, preferably Sitecore XM Cloud.
• Familiarity with server‑side concepts and ability to collaborate with backend teams (ASP.NET/C#, APIs, GraphQL).
• Strong communication skills.
