Test Engineer – Railway Signalling

About the role

The Test Engineer will join Hitachi Rail’s testing and commissioning team, focusing on railway signalling systems. You will work on‑site with clients and project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable delivery of signalling solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and execute testing and commissioning activities for railway signalling systems.
• Develop and maintain test specifications, test reports and other testing documentation.
• Deploy software and system configurations to both site and in‑house testing environments.
• Conduct on‑site testing with clients, investigate faults and perform first‑level analysis.
• Report testing progress, defects and technical findings to the Testing & Commissioning Lead.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and project requirements throughout testing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Windows Server and basic networking concepts.
• Understanding of low‑voltage electrical systems.
• Good command of Cantonese and English.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts and weekends.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows operating system.
• Proficiency with Linux operating system.
• Experience with Windows Server.
• Basic networking concepts.
• Low‑voltage electrical systems knowledge.
• Familiarity with CBTC signalling systems (advantageous).
• System log analysis capability.
