Vice President – Export & Agency Finance (MLA Focus)

About the role

This senior position is based in Hong Kong and focuses on the origination, structuring and execution of Export & Agency Finance (EAF) transactions across the Asia‑Pacific region. The role has a particular emphasis on deals supported by Multilateral Agencies (MLAs) such as the Asian Development Bank, AIIB and World Bank Group entities.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, structure and execute Asia‑bounded EAF transactions backed by MLAs.
• Develop and maintain consolidated relationships with key stakeholders at MLAs operating in APAC.
• Support product and coverage teams across Santander’s Asian offices.
• Distribute EAF transactions regionally when required.
• Prepare pitching materials, transaction proposals and term sheets for clients.
• Provide input for credit proposals, coordinate with risk teams and follow the credit approval process.
• Negotiate loan documentation and liaise with internal departments (Middle Office, legal, compliance) and external advisors.
• Offer technical and marketing support to other Santander units involved in EAF business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant EAF experience, preferably with MLA‑supported transactions.
• Strong knowledge of MLA financing structures, products and technicalities.
• Proven client‑facing experience, including pitching, commercial negotiations and documentation.
• Sound credit assessment skills and familiarity with corporate banking products.
• Established relationships with MLAs, ECAs and major importers/exporters in APAC.
• Fluency in English; Mandarin and/or Korean proficiency is a plus.
