About the role

The role is responsible for accounting and regulatory reporting processes for Santander’s Hong Kong branch, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial and regulatory information while driving process improvements and automation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily general ledger control and reconciliations, proposing accounting adjustments as needed.
• Support month‑end closing and prepare the Head Office reporting package and templates.
• Prepare HKMA banking returns, statutory surveys and ensure timely, accurate submission.
• Monitor regulatory ratios daily and respond promptly to HKMA communications.
• Maintain robust controls and governance frameworks and support internal or external audits.
• Drive automation and enhancement of regulatory reporting processes using AI tools.
• Support system change initiatives, including implementation of new reporting solutions and process optimisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or reporting within a financial institution.
• Academic background in accounting; CPA qualification or Big 4 experience is an advantage.
• Track record of driving system changes or process improvements is a plus.
• Attention to detail with a strong control mindset.
• Collaborative team player with good stakeholder management.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the HKMA regulatory framework and reporting requirements.
• Good understanding of IFRS, especially for corporate and investment banking products.
• Proficiency with data tools such as Power Query and SQL.
• Experience with AI tools for automation and data analysis.
• Fluency in English and Chinese, with Mandarin speaking ability.
