External Communications Manager, Asia

About the role

We are seeking an experienced External Communications Manager to elevate WSP’s profile across Asia. Working with business leaders, technical experts and MarCom colleagues, you will translate business priorities, projects and expertise into compelling external stories.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute external communications plans aligned with regional business and market priorities.
• Build and maintain relationships with key business, trade and industry media, driving proactive PR opportunities.
• Create, edit and adapt high‑quality English‑ and Chinese‑language content for external audiences, including thought‑leadership pieces and project storytelling.
• Lead regional media relations, thought‑leadership initiatives and integrated social campaigns on platforms such as LinkedIn, WeChat, Facebook and Instagram.
• Identify and coordinate priority local and regional awards, maximising visibility through industry recognition.
• Monitor campaign performance and media developments, providing actionable insights and communications advice to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in external/corporate communications, PR or media relations, preferably in a multi‑market environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese, with strong Simplified Chinese capability.
• Proven ability to develop compelling stories, manage senior‑level stakeholder relationships and interpret communications performance.
• Strong editorial judgement, cultural awareness and understanding of reputation risk.
