Manager, Public Affairs (Mainland Media Relations and Communications)

About the role

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is seeking a Manager of Public Affairs to lead Mainland media relations and communications. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Manager, the role will shape and deliver media programmes that raise the Club’s profile across Hong Kong and Mainland China, supporting its racing, charitable and business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing a strategic media plan that promotes the Club’s racing excellence, talent development and equine industry contributions.
• Develop, write and distribute press releases, statements and other content to secure coverage of key activities.
• Proactively pitch stories to Mainland media outlets and provide on‑site support during major racing events and campaigns.
• Organise and manage media engagement activities, including event briefings, logistics and stakeholder communication.
• Support the expansion of the Club’s digital presence in Mainland China and collaborate with agencies on content strategy.
• Travel to the Mainland or other regions as required to build and maintain media relationships.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in communications, public affairs or journalism.
• Demonstrated experience in media relations, preferably with Mainland Chinese outlets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
