Demi/Commis Chef at Michelin‑Starred Pastry Kitchen

About the role

The kitchen of L'Envol Pastry, a two‑star Michelin French restaurant in Hong Kong, is looking for a motivated Demi/Commis Chef. This entry‑level position offers the chance to work alongside seasoned chefs in a high‑performance, fine‑dining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, chop, peel and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure and mix components according to recipe specifications.
• Cook and assemble dishes, including cold plates, while adhering to quality, presentation and food‑preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Monitor cooking progress, test doneness and ensure correct temperatures of food and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation, tools, knives and kitchen surfaces.
• Support the team by setting up and breaking down stations and following all safety and security policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• At least one year of experience in a professional kitchen or similar food‑preparation role.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb throughout the shift.

• Food preparation and basic cooking techniques.
• Operation of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers and microwaves.
• Food safety and temperature control compliance.
