Registered Safety Officer

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries, is hiring a Registered Safety Officer in Hong Kong. The role leads site health and safety activities, ensures compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations, and promotes a strong safety culture across construction and fit-out projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement Construction Phase Plans to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Lead and oversee all site health and safety activities for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Establish, implement and continuously improve safety policies, procedures and best practices.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits, and investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
• Monitor the safety management system and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and training programs.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities, and prepare weekly and monthly health and safety reports.
• Advise project teams so that safety is integrated into all project activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, Engineering or another relevant discipline.
• Recognised Safety Supervisor Certificate or equivalent; Registered Safety Officer (RSO) status is mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years of health and safety management experience in construction, fit-out, refurbishment, workplace or facility projects.
• Experience monitoring HSE compliance on construction and renovation works for office and facility premises.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
• Good command of English and Cantonese, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Preferred: experience on corporate office fit-out, commercial workplace, data centre or critical facility projects, and familiarity with ISO 45001.
