Accountant – Financial Control & Reporting

About the role

The Accountant will be responsible for full‑set accounting, project cost control and cash‑flow management for Veolia’s operations in Hong Kong. You will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with HKFRS while supporting the Finance Manager in budgeting and forecasting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a full set of books, project accounting records and ledger balances; prepare month‑end closing, financial analysis and variance reports against CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
• Monitor project expenditure, track contract variations, review subcontractor payment applications and audit procurement spending for heavy equipment or plant.
• Handle daily treasury functions, manage project invoicing and prepare cash‑flow forecasts together with AP/AR aging analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards and internal group control policies; coordinate with auditors and tax advisors.
• Assist the Finance Manager with annual budgets, rolling forecasts and long‑term financial modelling for site operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; member or final‑stage student of HKICPA, ACCA or CPA Australia.
• 3–5 years of full‑set accounting experience, preferably in construction, waste management, joint‑venture or heavy‑utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, project costing methods and Hong Kong tax regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with major ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
