Assistant Relationship Manager - Private Banking

About the role

The Assistant Relationship Manager (ARM) Private Banking supports one or more Relationship Managers and Group Heads in daily operations, administration, client care and relationship management. The ARM interacts with internal and external stakeholders, provides clients with relevant information and supports the RM in implementing customized solutions, while channeling client feedback to the bank so that processes can improve quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Support RMs/GH in client interaction and related tasks such as systems, processes, files and documents, customizing client requests (reports, statistics, mailings)
• Manage the RM/GH's calendar, prepare client meetings, organize business trips and handle post-processing of calls, meetings and trips
• Compile presentations, help draft investment proposals and support marketing activities
• Ensure coverage during own absences, collect and exchange relevant information, plan ahead and document work
• Support project implementation and propose improvements based on experience and observations
• Help manage risk as part of the first line of defence, raise concerns, follow up issues and escalate when in doubt
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and internal policies (new accounts, payment instructions, client calls) and timely clearance of pending items
• Document client interactions and orders correctly in tools such as CRM and DiAS

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of relevant client support experience in Private Banking
• Understanding of execution and back office processes and of legal and compliance procedures
• Proven track record in servicing banking clients with complex needs (onboarding, maintaining and extending relationships)
• Spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin); relevant regulatory license from HKMA / SFC

Required skills

• Hands-on knowledge of banking system applications
• Adequate knowledge of Financial Terminals such as Bloomberg and Reuters
• Familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment of the covered markets and cultural awareness
