Associate, Credit Management

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting an Associate for its Credit Management (CM) function in Hong Kong. The CM function centralises core credit management and risk leadership, supporting GCIB Coverage and working with Sector Coverage, AIBD functions and relevant APAC teams. The role is accountable for the credit process in Hong Kong, supporting origination and ongoing monitoring, and covers end-to-end credit preparation, watchlists, early warning indicators, deal structuring, covenant monitoring, credit cost management and RWA fixes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the growth and portfolio management of customers in Hong Kong.
• Assist in onboarding and origination of new clients as part of local, regional and global growth plans.
• Prepare credit analysis independently for new and existing clients, focusing on credit quality monitoring.
• Conduct annual credit reviews, internal rating reviews and covenant compliance monitoring.
• Manage customer requests and support Relationship Managers in meeting customer needs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with product partners and other key stakeholders across MUFG's international network, and coordinate client interactions for onboarding and account management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree; a degree in business or commerce and a CFA qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 2-5 years' experience in corporate and institutional lending or debt advisory at a major bank or chartered accounting firm.
• Candidates from credit rating agencies, investment banks, investment management firms or corporate treasury teams are welcome.
• Strong financial knowledge and analysis acumen, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks across work streams and solve problems analytically.

Required skills

• Intermediate credit writing, financial analysis and modelling, legal documentation and debt structuring.
• Understanding of financial and economic markets in Hong Kong and mainland China.
