Associate / Engagement Manager, Banking & Financial Services

About the role

Oliver Wyman, a global management consulting firm with a strong presence in the financial services industry, is looking for experienced professionals to join its banking and financial services practice in Hong Kong. As an Associate / Engagement role, you will help shape strategies for clients such as regional banks, investors, capital markets, insurers, central banks and ministries of finance.

Key responsibilities

• Break down complex business problems into clear, discrete workstreams and tasks
• Identify the critical drivers of a problem and guide junior consultants to focus on what matters most
• Plan and execute rigorous analyses, ensuring quality, structure and speed of delivery
• Diagnose core issues within complex analyses and turn findings into practical, compelling recommendations
• Work closely with clients and project team members to move work forward day to day
• Manage small teams, coordinating priorities, timelines and deliverables
• Provide valued insight and subject-matter perspective, becoming a trusted contributor for clients and colleagues

Required profile

• At least 5-8 years of relevant financial services experience, ideally from a top-tier strategy consulting firm or a strategy department/in-house consulting unit
• In-depth knowledge of the sector, gained through industry experience or other consultancy houses
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to run sophisticated analyses and present recommendations
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in formal and informal settings
• Initiative, creativity and willingness to travel
