Intern, Commodities, Food and Agriculture (HK)

About the role

ING's Wholesale Banking business covers Asia Pacific, and its Commodities, Food and Agriculture (CF&A) team provides financial solutions to clients trading physical commodities (energy, metals and minerals, agriculture) and to producers and processors of food and agricultural products. This 6-month internship (January to June 2026) in Hong Kong lets you gain hands-on experience in commodity financing, supporting the client-facing Front Office team and working closely with internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Help the front-office team manage banking services, including structured trade financing solutions, offered to current or prospective clients.
• Liaise with clients in the portfolio on deal management and transaction requests, making sure proposed deals fit the bank's risk appetite and approving credit facility parameters.
• Work with product partners such as Middle Office, Risk, Operations and Financial Markets to ensure transactions are executed smoothly and on time, and that credit reviews and credit modifications are completed.
• Assist with credit and operational tasks such as credit reviews, customer due diligence, call reports, covenant monitoring and management reporting.
• Take part in ad-hoc projects, reporting, commercial meetings and client meetings as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum GPA of 3 / 4 or equivalent.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to carry out tasks efficiently.
• A resourceful, proactive approach to learning and problem solving.
• A positive attitude when dealing with challenging situations.

The internship is part of the regional programme, which includes structured onboarding, cross-country networking, business insights sessions and a graduation experience.
