Backend Team Lead – Python & Microservices

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing fintech that powers international payments for digital banks across APAC. The company seeks a Backend Team Lead to drive the evolution of its Python‑based microservices platform while mentoring a high‑performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a backend engineering team building mission‑critical payment infrastructure.
• Define and enforce architecture decisions across a modern microservices environment.
• Develop scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI (or aiohttp).
• Mentor engineers, fostering technical growth and a collaborative culture.
• Break down complex projects into clear, achievable deliverables.
• Collaborate with product and senior leadership to deliver new platform capabilities.
• Remain hands‑on, providing technical guidance while steering the team.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in Python backend development.
• Proven track record in fintech, preferably payments, banking or cross‑border transactions.
• Experience in startup or scale‑up environments with product delivery focus.
• Interest in practical AI applications.
• Excellent communication skills and a low‑ego, collaborative attitude.
