China Legal Counsel (Hong Kong)

About the role

We are seeking an energetic Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Compliance team in Hong Kong, focusing on the firm’s China business development. You will provide practical legal advice across the firm and support the drafting, review, and negotiation of trading‑related contracts for our Asia operations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate derivatives documents, commodities purchase agreements, broker agreements, terms of business, NDAs and financing agreements.
• Respond to inquiries on existing and new contracts and provide direct legal support for new business initiatives.
• Liaise with external counsel and other advisers, and negotiate with counterparties in China and other jurisdictions.
• Advise colleagues worldwide on legal matters related to China and broader Asian markets.

Required profile

• 3‑8 years of post‑qualification experience on a corporate or finance team (derivatives, credit, M&A) in a leading law firm or financial institution.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Native Mandarin speaker with fluent English (spoken and written).
