Deputy Operations Manager – Landfill Operations

About the role

Veolia Hong Kong is seeking a Deputy Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day landfill activities and ensure a smooth transition from construction to full operational status. The role combines strategic planning, safety oversight, and team leadership within a high‑visibility environmental services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily landfill operations and new development activities, guaranteeing compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
• Plan, organise and coordinate waste disposal activities, managing master work schedules that reflect treatment capacities, manpower, and waste delivery timelines.
• Develop and maintain communication methods for schedule fulfillment, delays, and operational changes.
• Oversee safety implementation, train staff, and ensure the Operations Department meets all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor financial performance.
• Direct and supervise the facility workforce, set priorities, assign projects, and drive daily/weekly output to meet operational objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Valid Hong Kong driving licence (Class 1, 2).
• 8–10 years of relevant experience in the landfill industry, including management and production operations.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Fluent in Chinese and English, both written and spoken.
