Deputy Project Manager

About the role

Veolia Hong Kong is looking for a Deputy Project Manager to support the operation of the North East New Territories Landfill and its extension. You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the site runs safely, efficiently and in compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operating plans for the landfill site.
• Monitor compliance with local laws, company codes and contractual obligations.
• Manage budgets, forecast capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) expenditures, and oversee asset replacement.
• Lead recruitment, training, performance management and discipline of staff.
• Act as the primary liaison for landfill users, local residents, the Environmental Protection Department and independent consultants.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or a related science.
• 8–10 years of experience in municipal waste landfill operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial or project management role.
• Strong communication, coaching and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Cantonese is an advantage.
• Chartered membership in an engineering or environmental institution is preferred.
