Director, Corporate & Business Communications

About the role

The Director, Corporate & Business Communications will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communications strategies for Standard Chartered Hong Kong. Reporting to senior leadership, the role focuses on enhancing the bank’s reputation, managing media relations, and overseeing social media activity across corporate, business, executive and crisis contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Support the CEO and senior executives with media engagements, including speaking points, FAQs and interview preparation.
• Craft compelling external narratives, press releases, and interview opportunities to strengthen the bank’s public profile.
• Align key messages with internal and external stakeholders such as staff, investors, regulators, media and community groups.
• Collaborate with the Group Communications team to ensure local initiatives are consistent with global objectives.
• Manage social media channels, creating proactive content and responding to emerging issues.
• Provide issues and crisis management support, monitoring media to mitigate reputational risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
• More than 12 years of experience in communications, media and social media management, and issues handling.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, both written and spoken.
• Strong knowledge of media platforms and public affairs.
• Proven stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation abilities.
