Director of Communications, External Affairs & Member Services

About the role

The Law Society of Hong Kong seeks a senior leader to head its Communications, External Affairs and Member Services Department. Reporting to senior management, the director will shape the Society’s public image, manage media relations, and oversee member‑focused programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with media outlets and manage all media interactions.
• Coordinate press releases, publicity campaigns, corporate videos, brochures and other promotional materials.
• Lead crisis communication efforts and advise senior leadership on public‑relations issues.
• Develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with the Society’s values and objectives.
• Monitor, summarise and circulate media coverage internally.
• Serve as the primary media contact for the President and act as Secretary for various committees and working parties.
• Conduct research, prepare reports on relevant topics, and ensure consistent internal and external messaging.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in law, mass communications, journalism, language or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with a proven track record at a senior level.
• Strong media relations, organisational and crisis‑management capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English.
• Knowledge of the legal profession and related policies is an advantage.
