Director of Engineering

About the role

The Aberdeen Marina Club, part of the Shangri‑La Group in Hong Kong, is seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering to lead all engineering and maintenance functions. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure the Club’s facilities operate safely, efficiently and to the highest hospitality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all engineering and maintenance activities across the Club.
• Oversee building services including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and recreational facilities.
• Develop and implement preventive‑maintenance and energy‑management programmes.
• Plan, budget and execute renovation and capital‑improvement projects for function rooms, restaurants, sports, swimming‑pool and fitness areas.
• Manage project budgets, contractors, consultants and vendors to deliver projects on time, within budget and safely.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, environmental and licensing requirements.
• Provide strategic recommendations on facility upgrades, sustainability initiatives and asset enhancement.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of engineering‑management experience, preferably in private clubs, hotels, resorts or large‑scale facilities.
• Proven track record of delivering renovation, upgrading and capital projects.
• Strong leadership, project‑management, budgeting and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese.
