Director, Public Affairs

About the role

The Hong Kong Tourism Board is seeking a seasoned Director of Public Affairs to shape and execute long‑term communications, media, and stakeholder strategies that reinforce HKTB’s reputation as a responsible public organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement corporate communications programmes that project a positive image of HKTB.
• Lead stakeholder, media and community engagement initiatives to build trust and goodwill.
• Drive local media relations and publicity campaigns to maximise awareness of HKTB’s initiatives.
• Supervise the editorial team in preparing executive communications, speeches, presentations and external releases.
• Monitor potential risks, provide strategic counsel and lead crisis‑communication efforts.
• Advise senior leadership on all communications‑related matters and projects.
• Maintain relationships with media, government bodies, academics, opinion leaders and community partners.
• Collaborate with the Tourism Commission and other divisions to prepare legislative submissions.
• Represent HKTB as a speaker at community talks and seminars related to tourism.
• Control budgets and ensure quality of publicity programmes funded by other divisions.

Required profile

• University degree, preferably in Marketing or Public Relations.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience, including 7+ years in a managerial capacity.
• Proven track record delivering high‑quality public affairs and large‑scale PR campaigns in Hong Kong.
• Broad expertise in public relations, strategic communications, crisis management, and project leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
