Employment and Investigations Counsel – Regional VP/ED

About the role

This regional Employment and Investigations Counsel position is based in Singapore and reports primarily to the Head of Employment Legal (AEJ) with a secondary line to the Litigation and Investigations team. The role covers a broad geography across Asia‑Pacific and Australia, providing strategic legal support on employment matters and investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on HR processes, employment handbooks, policies and cross‑border employment issues.
• Prepare and maintain employment‑related templates and documentation.
• Support employee relations matters, performance cases, investigations and disciplinary actions.
• Manage labour disputes and employment litigation, including wrongful termination claims.
• Provide guidance on employee data‑privacy concerns.
• Coordinate with external counsel as required.
• Assist the Litigation and Investigations team with regulatory and internal investigations, interview witnesses, review materials and draft investigation reports.
• Respond to enquiries from regulatory authorities, law‑enforcement units and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years (VP) or 7 years (ED) experience in employment law and employee relations in Asia.
• Demonstrated litigation experience, preferably within the financial services sector.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced banking environment and exercise sound commercial judgment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation abilities.
• High integrity and a commitment to fostering a compliance culture.
• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize multiple projects.
• In‑house legal experience is preferred.
• Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
