Freelance Long-Term English to Traditional Chinese (HK) Life Sciences Translator

About the role

TransPerfect is seeking experienced freelance linguists to translate and proofread life‑science documents from English into Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong). The work is long‑term, remote and focuses on materials such as Informed Consent Forms for clinical studies.

Key responsibilities

• Translate English life‑science texts into accurate Traditional Chinese (HK) while preserving scientific terminology.
• Proofread and edit translations to ensure flawless spelling, grammar and style.
• Collaborate with project managers and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Complete confidentiality agreements and translation/MTPE assessment tests.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English and Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong).
• Specialisation in life‑science, medical or related fields.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Preferably located in an Asian time zone.
• One of the following qualifications: a degree in Translation/Linguistics with translation training, 2 + years translation experience with a degree, 5 + years translation experience without a degree, or a government‑issued translation competence certificate.

Required skills

• Professional translation from English to Traditional Chinese (HK).
• Machine‑Translation Post‑Editing (MTPE).
