Gateway Manager – Air Freight Operations

About the role

The Gateway Manager is responsible for daily management of the Air Gateway in Hong Kong, implementing Maersk's Global Air strategy and ensuring business targets are met. The role coordinates resources, optimises costs and drives operational excellence for air‑freight services.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Global Air Gateway strategy and initiatives at the district level.
• Manage overall air‑gateway operations, including airline and vendor services, procurement cost leadership and ULD/consolidation optimisation.
• Implement KPIs to monitor staff productivity and manage budget for tonnage and volume.
• Lead the logistics team, promote high morale, and represent GCA Air with trade associations, government and regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in air‑freight or logistics operations management.
• Strong leadership and people‑development skills, with ability to drive strategy and maintain employee motivation.
• Ability to work with HR on talent management, succession planning and employee development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of air‑gateway processes, cost optimisation and KPI implementation.
• Familiarity with airline and vendor procurement, ULD handling and consolidation metrics.
