Global Licensing Lawyer – Fintech & Crypto

About the role

Coins.ph is a leading licensed fiat and crypto wallet provider in Southeast Asia that is expanding globally. We are looking for an experienced Lawyer to lead our global licensing and regulatory affairs, securing the necessary financial and payment licences across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a licensing roadmap for payments, e‑money, remittances and virtual‑asset services across the EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia and Hong Kong.
• Prepare, review and submit licence applications and manage communications with regulators and government agencies.
• Coordinate with external counsel, consultants and regulatory authorities in each jurisdiction.
• Work closely with Compliance, Risk and Operations teams to embed regulatory requirements into product and operational design.
• Monitor global regulatory developments, assess opportunities and risks, and advise senior management on market‑entry requirements.
• Draft and maintain internal policies, licensing documentation and regulatory reports.
• Represent Coins.ph in regulatory discussions, industry associations and working groups to support favourable licensing outcomes.

Required profile

• LL.B. (or equivalent) with 5+ years post‑qualification legal experience, including at least 3 years in financial services, fintech, payments or crypto.
• Proven track record of securing financial or payment licences in one or more of the target regions (EU, LatAm, Africa, South Asia, Hong Kong).
• Deep understanding of payment‑services regulations, AML/CFT, e‑money licensing and crypto/virtual‑asset regulatory frameworks.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills with regulators and external counsel.
• Excellent English communication and legal drafting abilities; additional language skills (e.g., Chinese) are a plus.
• Ability to work across time zones and manage multiple licensing projects simultaneously.
