Housekeeping Trainer

About the role

The Housekeeping Trainer will lead both classroom and on‑the‑job training programmes for the Housekeeping team at Island Shangri‑La, Hong Kong. Working closely with department heads, the role aims to raise service standards, improve productivity and ensure consistent operational effectiveness across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver structured orientation, classroom sessions and on‑the‑job coaching aligned with hotel standards and brand guidelines.
• Monitor and support new colleagues during their probation, providing regular performance feedback.
• Collaborate with management to maintain uniform cleaning standards in guest rooms and public areas.
• Identify training needs, assist in rolling out new procedures, systems and service initiatives.
• Act as a communication bridge between management and housekeeping staff, fostering teamwork and a positive work environment.
• Provide operational assistance to the housekeeping team in daily activities and undertake special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in a housekeeping department, preferably with training responsibilities; international hotel experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and customer‑focused attitude.
• Motivated, ambitious and results‑oriented.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of housekeeping operations, equipment and cleaning standards.
• Familiarity with adult education methods and training delivery.
• Proficiency in standard PC applications.
• Excellent spoken and written English and Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency desirable.
