Legal Counsel – Data Protection & IP Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join Meitu’s International Legal Team in Hong Kong, providing legal and compliance support for our mobile apps and websites worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support the International Business Team with legal and compliance issues related to mobile apps and websites, including drafting and reviewing Privacy Policies and Terms of Service.
• Monitor global developments in data protection and ePrivacy laws and advise on their impact.
• Develop internal policies and procedures to detect potential data breaches or copyright infringements and ensure compliance with privacy regulations, including cross‑border data transfers.
• Provide general legal support and assist with ad‑hoc projects and tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in law from a Common Law jurisdiction.
• Qualified solicitor admitted in a Common Law jurisdiction with 3–8 years post‑qualification experience, specializing in data protection, ePrivacy and intellectual property law.
• In‑house legal and compliance experience handling mobile apps and websites at a sizable technology company.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Ability to adopt a risk‑balancing, flexible and creative approach to compliance.
• Self‑motivated, diligent, result‑oriented with a strong sense of ownership and independence.
• Skilled at managing internal stakeholders and external professional parties.
