Legal Counsel – FICC & Structured Products

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) team in Hong Kong. The role will provide specialised legal support to the FICC, Futures and Commodities businesses across the region, focusing on structured finance and derivatives transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support to FICC, Futures and Commodities business teams based in Hong Kong and other regions.
• Advise on debt financing, structured products, and derivatives transactions, including OTC derivatives and structured debt issuances.
• Draft and review transaction documents such as distribution agreements, derivative contracts, structured notes, MTN program documents, prime brokerage agreements, and bond‑connect related agreements.
• Advise business teams on legal, structural, reputational and other transaction‑related issues.
• Respond to regulatory initiatives, market‑structure reforms and policy work.
• Attend internal meetings on behalf of Legal and work closely with the LCD on matters affecting the FICC business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in law.
• 3–5 years of post‑qualification experience (PQE) in an international law firm; in‑house experience is a plus.
• Common‑law qualification (non‑HK) preferred.
• Experience with structured product/financing transactions involving Asia, ASEAN or Commonwealth jurisdictions.
• Background in FICC structured products or derivatives (FX, rates, credit) preferred; experience in equity derivatives, funds or commodities also considered.
• Strong commercial, communication and prioritisation skills in a client‑focused environment.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
