Legal Counsel – Hong Kong & Taiwan

About the role

The Legal Counsel reports to the Head of Legal – Asia and supports RELX’s Hong Kong and Taiwan operations. The role provides independent, commercially‑focused legal advice while safeguarding the business’s interests and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable law.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely, accurate, and concise legal advice on contractual, technology, intellectual property, content, regulatory and dispute matters.
• Monitor legal, regulatory and policy developments, identify risks and propose practical, risk‑based solutions.
• Participate in Legal Department planning and help achieve strategic and compliance objectives.
• Design and deliver training sessions and legal clinics for business units.
• Influence stakeholders through trusted guidance, manage expectations and prioritize multiple high‑urgency issues.
• Collaborate with APAC, US, Europe legal teams and external partners to resolve complex matters.
• Escalate material legal, regulatory, financial or reputational risks to the Head of Legal – Asia.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience advising corporate businesses on a broad range of legal issues.
• Strong understanding of compliance obligations, risk appetite and business policies.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage stakeholder relationships and exercise sound judgment.
• Excellent communication skills and the capacity to influence senior leaders.
