Legal Counsel

About the role

Reporting directly to the Head of Legal – Asia, the Legal Counsel will support LexisNexis’ Hong Kong and Taiwan businesses. The role provides high‑quality, commercially focused legal advice while protecting the company’s interests and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, accurate and concise legal advice on contractual, technology, intellectual property, content, regulatory and dispute matters.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, identify risks and recommend practical, risk‑based solutions.
• Deliver legal training and conduct legal clinics for business units.
• Collaborate with legal teams across APAC, the US and Europe and manage relationships with outsourced partners.
• Escalate material legal, regulatory, financial or reputational risks to the Head of Legal – Asia.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong or another recognised common‑law jurisdiction (Mainland China‑qualified candidates with significant Hong Kong experience considered).
• Minimum 6 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Experience in commercial, corporate, litigation or IT/IP law.
• Strong drafting and negotiating skills with solid commercial acumen.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
• Interest in developing AI fluency and leveraging technology to enhance legal service delivery.
