Overnight Duty Engineer

About the role

The Overnight Duty Engineer is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality and reliability of all hotel engineering systems during night hours. You will work closely with the facilities team to ensure guest comfort and compliance with life‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and mechanical equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges and meters; locate and operate shut‑off valves.
• Conduct fire‑pump and generator run tests, inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Maintain inventory, order parts and keep purchase‑order logs up to date.
• Complete life‑safety checklists and assist in developing disaster‑response protocols.
• Respond to guest repair requests and support the night‑shift operations team.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling and performance coaching for the engineering crew.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school education.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering or maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to work night shifts and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb and navigating stairs.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and documentation.
