Paralegal – Banking & Finance

About the role

This position provides comprehensive and confidential paralegal support to the Banking and Finance team at Ogier Hong Kong. The successful candidate will work closely with fee‑earners, ensuring smooth administration of legal matters and contributing to the team’s efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Support fee‑earners to achieve agreed chargeable‑hour targets.
• Assist with financial and matter‑management tasks such as budgets, WIP, and aged‑debt reporting.
• Conduct searches, draft, amend and translate legal documents as required.
• Act as primary liaison between fee‑earners and clients, handling communications and calls.
• Set up new client matters in accounting and database systems, maintain and update client records.
• Keep files current, file documents, emails and correspondence, and archive completed matters.
• Manage client‑specific business‑development arrangements when needed.
• Delegate administrative tasks according to team workflow and support innovation initiatives.

Required profile

• Completed common‑law legal studies (LLB/LLM or equivalent).
• Previous exposure to banking and finance transactions is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience with time‑entry principles and ability to manage personal chargeable‑hour targets.
• High accuracy, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and adapt to new tools and processes.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.
