Remote Medical Transcription (Cantonese-English)

About the role

Kaya by Chemin, a community of data annotators building AI, is looking for medical professionals and people with healthcare knowledge to join a remote medical transcription project. You will listen to authentic Cantonese-English healthcare conversations and transcribe them accurately; the recordings feature natural code-switching with English medical terminology. The project runs from 20 July to 20 September 2026, with flexible working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe Cantonese-English healthcare audio accurately
• Segment audio into natural speech units
• Identify and label speakers when several voices are present
• Add simple annotations such as gender, age group and emotion
• Review and validate transcription quality through QC tasks if assigned
• Follow project guidelines and complete tasks within the timeline
• Communicate with the Project Manager when clarification is needed

Required profile

• Fluent in spoken Cantonese and able to write in Traditional Chinese; familiarity with the Hong Kong accent is preferred
• Comfortable with Cantonese-English code-switching and English medical terminology
• Fluent in English for project communication
• Medical student, allied health professional, medical interpreter, medical transcriptionist, healthcare worker or someone with equivalent familiarity with medical terminology
• Candidates based in Hong Kong are strongly encouraged to apply
• Bonus: previous experience in medical transcription, audio annotation, data labelling, linguistics or AI projects

Required skills

• Familiarity with a Cantonese Jyutping keyboard
• Attention to detail, maintaining at least 95% transcription accuracy
• Access to a laptop or desktop, headset and a stable internet connection

What we offer

• Flexible working hours, at least 4 hours per day including weekends when required
• Pay of about USD 2-3 per hour for execution and USD 4 per hour for QC
• Mandatory onboarding training (TBD, during office hours)
