Research Assistant Professor in Ocean Science

About the role

HKUST’s Department of Ocean Science is seeking a Research Assistant Professor to lead cutting‑edge investigations in blue carbon and marine symbiosis. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary, international team and work in state‑of‑the‑art facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent and collaborative research projects in ocean science.
• Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Coordinate and manage research projects, including budgeting and timelines.
• Develop innovative research proposals and pursue competitive funding such as RGC GRF.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals and present at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Marine Biology, Ecology, Ocean Science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong publication record in blue carbon or marine symbiosis.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring UG and PG students.
• Leadership experience in research project coordination.
• Excellent English communication and scientific writing skills.
