Senior Engineer – Wastewater & Waste Management

About the role

Arup is seeking a senior engineer to lead the technical development of wastewater and waste‑management strategies across the East Asia region. The role combines strategic planning, design, and project delivery for resource‑recovery and circular‑economy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input to strategy formulation, planning and design of resource and waste‑management schemes for buildings, developments and cities.
• Conduct waste forecasting, assess circular‑economy opportunities and evaluate impacts of collection‑regime changes.
• Develop separation and collection strategies, and design resource‑recovery infrastructure at city or jurisdiction level.
• Prepare outline designs, space‑proving requirements and technical specifications for facilities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and produce client reports and presentations.
• Manage projects from tendering through design, procurement, site supervision, commissioning and operation.
• Provide technical leadership within the group and collaborate across Arup offices in East and Southeast Asia.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil engineering or a related discipline.
• 8 years (senior) or 5 years (engineer) of relevant experience; professional membership preferred.
• Strong project‑management and problem‑solving abilities in multidisciplinary contexts.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Background in resource and waste‑management, with knowledge of waste‑forecasting and recycling technologies.
