Senior Regulatory Counsel – Equity Capital Trading (APAC)

About the role

Jump Trading’s APAC Legal and Compliance team is looking for a seasoned lawyer to act as the primary legal and compliance advisor to the equity capital trading desk. You will provide real‑time guidance on trading strategies, monitor desk activity for compliance, and keep the team updated on regulatory changes across major APAC markets, especially Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main legal and compliance point of contact for the equity capital trading team, offering immediate advice on trading activities and regulatory considerations.
• Monitor trading desk operations to ensure adherence to applicable rules and identify potential compliance risks.
• Track and communicate updates to trading regulations and market practices throughout the APAC region.
• Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and other legal/compliance colleagues to develop and implement effective policies, procedures, and controls.
• Independently assess compliance risks, exercise sound judgment under time‑sensitive conditions, and propose timely solutions that balance regulatory requirements with business objectives.
• Build strong working relationships through clear communication and problem‑solving, supporting Jump’s flat and dynamic culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Law degree with 6‑8 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years as a trading‑desk lawyer or compliance officer.
• Deep understanding of trading compliance risks and thorough knowledge of local equity market regulations in the APAC region, particularly Hong Kong.
• Proven ability to work independently, identify risks, and make sound judgments under pressure.
• Excellent communication, logical reasoning, and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable thriving in a flat, fast‑paced environment with reliable availability.
