Simulator Pilot Instructor (C-130J)

About the role

The Simulator Pilot Instructor provides expert training, assessment and safety support for C-130J pilot qualification and upgrade courses. Reporting to the C-130J Lead Instructor, the role works closely with CAE instructional staff and the 37SQN to ensure high‑quality simulator and classroom delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, deliver, assess and maintain training and assessment materials for C-130J pilot courses.
• Conduct classroom and simulator instruction for initial qualification, upgrade and currency training.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and contribute to Aviation Safety Management reporting.
• Liaise with resident instructional staff at CAE and the RAAF to coordinate training activities.
• Support internal CAE business initiatives as directed by the Lead Instructor.

Required profile

• Authorized by the Commanding Officer of RAAF Central Flying School as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor.
• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years as a Military Qualified Flying Instructor or Operational Flying Instructor, or at least 1 000 command hours on multi‑engine tactical transport aircraft (C‑27J, C‑130J or similar).
• Completed or able to complete ground training segments of the C‑130J Pilot Conversion Course.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
